Our artist of the month is Faith Ringgold. Ringgold was born in Harlem in New York City, and is best known for her quilts that combine painting, fabric, and storytelling.
In the book, Tar Beach, Ringgold tells the story of an 8-year old girl who dreams of possibilities beyond her surroundings. We chose to celebrate this artist in honor of MLK Jr., who urged us to "...keep moving forward..."
